Sunday Oct 7th FCMC made quite a showing at the We Care Car Show in Scottsburg IN. This year was the club’s 6th straight year to attend; we had 14 Mustangs. President Steve Merritt made a $150.00 donation on behalf of the club. Thanks to everyone who came out to brave the cool weather to help make this show a success.
I cannot express enough how thankful we were to the club, for your support of the We Care Car Show and even go beyond that with the donation. This has got to be one of the finest car clubs around and I am very proud to be a member of it. Hopefully one day when Dave and I get to slow down at work, we will be able to be more involved.
Please pass my thanks on to everyone!

Well another car show season has come to an end. Actually there are a few more on the calendar but as far as our club shows they are over. I would like to thank the members who came out to help set up and / or work the show. It all started very early on Saturday morning with the temperatures in the mid forties and with all of the weather reports calling for rain it did not look good.
However once the sun came up things began to turn around and the cars started to come in. It was still a little windy and cool but all in all a nice day. There were officially 81 cars on the lot for judging, a smaller group than we had hoped for but not bad considering the temps.
As usual there were a lot of very nice cars on hand and the judging for the “Best Of “ was hard. But in the end the winners were chosen and everyone seemed happy. I would also like to thank Jonathan Hunt who did a fantastic job of selling the gaming cards. When everything is totaled up and settled we should be able to donate somewhere between $3,000.00 and $4,000.00 to Blessings in a Backpack. Not bad for a days work.
Thanks again to everyone who helped out

Sept 7 – 9 was the annual Derby City Mustang Club’s September in the Park car show. Starting Friday morning a group, Kamos, Larry, Marty, Mike, Paul and Steve, went golfing at 9am. Then came the registration. Later we went to the Welcome Bash at the Conference Center had some good appetizers, then we had a get together at the Merritt’s cabin for pizza and celebrating Nancy’s birthday until it started raining. Saturday morning we woke to the sound of rain so we had to wait for it to quit before we went to the show site around 10am. After that the weather couldn’t have been any better. Mike R had a little visit from the local police department who had a citation for him (all in fun of course but the look on his face was priceless). Awards were presented to Bonnie, Marty, Mike R. and Steve received 1st place, Brenda, Frank & Therese’, Janet, Jenny & Paul, Nancy M., Phil & Rose Ann received 2nd place, Bill Grant, Kamos received 3rd place, Rich, Bill & Pat, Larry M. received Award of Excellence. After the show we had our annual club cook out at the cabins, everyone enjoyed corn on the cob cooked over the open fire, sloppy joe, pulled pork, hot dogs and a lot of side dishes along with tons of desserts, yum yum.

Hot and dry days made for an exciting time in Mustang OK on August 31 – Sept 2 for a group of FCMC members attending the MCA Grand National. Several members traveled along Route 66 also known as “The Mother Road” stopping along the way for photos ops at old gas stations and dinners among other points of interest. Friday started the show with registration check in then to our hotels for relaxing. Saturday morning we were up early to get to the show to clean the road grime from the cars. Most of the day was sitting in the shade trying to beat the 102 temps. After the show was over several went on the cruise to Oklahoma City’s Bricktown where there we ate dinner and walked along the canal. Dave and Patsy Boling along with Mike and Linda Crosby won their Conservators awards. Jon and Debbie Hunt received Gold in Concours. Larry Rixman and Patti received Gold in Unrestored. Fred Barkley and Debbie, Marty and Brenda Clegg, Steve and Nancy Merritt, Mike and Nancy Purlee all won 1st place in their classes. Also attending were Bill and Janet Grant.

100 degree weather and lots of sunshine made for a great week end at the Race To Indy car show hosted by the Mustang Club of Indianapolis on June 29-July1. We were 7 strong for the show, Marty & Brenda Clegg, Kamos Glover, David Henry, Steve & Nancy Merritt, Mike Rains, Larry Rixman & Patti, Gary Salb all braved the elements to show their Mustangs. 5 brought home awards 1-1st 2-2nds and 2- 3rds.

Friday June 22 started out a fun weekend with the Queen City Mustangers. We went on a road rally that took us thru of some of Ohio’s beautiful countryside along with some scenes of the towns along the way, not to mention the cemetery we went thru looking for past president’s last names. And the little town of Miamisburg where everyone got lost, there were Mustangs all over that town crossing paths. We ended the rally at the Air Force Museum where we took our time just walking thru. Later in the evening we went to Westshore Pizza for dinner. Saturday was the show with over 120 cars, FCMC had 9 Mustangs with 5 bringing home trophies.. The weather was great, a little hot but tolerable.

I would like to thank everyone who came out and worked / supported our June show. The weather finally cooperated, although we had a little scare with a few rain drops early in the morning. The sky was sunny and it was hot for most of the day. We had 102 cars on the lot ( not counting club cars ) and only 2 pre registered cars did not show..
The weekend started with the pony run to French Lick. Although I was not able to go, I heard it was really nice. The go cart track however claimed a few victims. I guess none of us are as young as we think we still are, right Bill? After the pony run there was the welcome bash at Community Park in New Albany. From there we moved on the cruise in. I believe we had around 80-85 cars for that.
Saturday morning started at 5:45 when we showed up at Jim O’Neal to start setting up. Thanks again to everyone for getting up and out so early. Once things were set up the cars started pouring in, and after two dismal years I for one was happy to see them. Things got a little hectic for a few minutes as we tried a new parking scheme but soon we had everything under control. The judges had a tough time not only from the heat, but from so many really nice cars. In the end it all worked out and we had a very successful show.
All things considered the show went pretty smooth, and I heard many compliments from the people there about how nice and well run our show was. That is a tribute to our members. We have all been to shows where things just did not go right and it makes for a bad day for everyone. I also want to thank Jim O’Neal Ford for all that they did to help make the show a success. It truly is nice to put on a car show at a place where you know you are wanted.
Thanks again to everyone who helped out. Now take a deep breath and get ready for the October show J

The Scottsburg IN Train Depot was the setting for the New Creations Addiction Ministry Car Show on May 26th. The weather was rather hot but as long as you stayed in the shade it was bearable. We started out the morning by going to a breakfast buffet at Hardy’s Café on the square, suggested by Jon (thanks Jon great place to eat) then we sat around and visited with everyone. Later for lunch some had the BBQ catered by Hog Wild BBQ, very good. And some went to Hancock’s drugstore for a delicious cheese burger.
